Junior Golf Clinic:
U.K. Elite Petite Soccer: Designed specifically for three, four and five year olds, this program is a fun-filledsocc introduction to the game of soccer. Participants will begin to learn the fundamentals of soccer including controlling the ball, running with the ball, passing, shooting, and scoring. Other program benefits include motor skill development, social skill building through interaction with other children, and confidence building. The outdoor program will meet at Veterans Park in Broomall and the indoor program at the Gauntlett Community Center. All players should wear sneakers, shin guards (available through U.K. Elite), and comfortable clothing. Instruction will be provided by U.K. Elite Soccer, Inc.
Fall Tennis Clinic:
Kidnetics Physical Education: This six-week program will provide an appealing and exciting opportunity for children, ages 2 to 5, to participate in a physical education program. The class is designed to offer a set of activities which will encourage social interaction, movement, and the development of self-esteem and teamwork without requiring a child to have a particular interest of affiliation to a specific sport. An all inclusive program for children who want to have fun and exercise their bodies and minds! Class will meet at the Community Center. Instruction will be provided by Impact Sports.
Falcon Sports T-Ball: Offered in partnership with Falcon Sports Academy, this T-Ball program is designed to introduce beginner players (ages 3-5) to the basic fundamentals of the sport and allow them to compete in a fun and non-competitive environment. The program will greatly contribute to each participant's success and comfort level once playing organized ball. Our Falcon coaches are trained in working with young children and are committed to teaching, safety, and fun. Safety bats and equipment will be utilized. The program will be held at Veterans Park in Broomall. Participants should provide their own glove.

MNBA: The MNBA, sponsored by Marple Newtown Recreation, offers children in grades K through 12 a combination of basketball opportunities. Male and female leagues for players in grades 3 to 12 will begin in December. In addition, a seven-week instructional clinic for children in grades K-2 will commence in January 2011. If you cannot register during normal business hours, please plan to attend one of the following evening sessions:
Silver Knights Chess: Learn how to play chess
from a Silver Knights Chess coach! Our coaches are professional chess
instructors and have taught thousands of children to play, winning
numerous state and national championships. During this ten-week program
open to children ages 6 to 14, class time is split evenly between
lesson and play. Play time is structured to pair each student against an
opponent of similar skill. Students will have the opportunity to
participate in local, stat
MN Quickstart Tennis League: Learn and play tennis with the Quickstart Tennis format! The Quickstart format allows all children ages 5 to 10 to learn the game in a modified format with shorter courts, transition balls, and small racquets. Just as in baseball, soccer, and basketball, players will be placed on tennis teams and play against other teams. This six-week program starts with practices run by our league managers and assisted by parent helpers. After the first week, we'll continue with 45 minutes of practice followed by 45 minutes of a team match against another team. As opposed to a clinic, the league gives participants an opportunity to experience match play. All players will receive a uniformed shirt, award, and ceremony at the conclusion of the season. Social Dance
Lessons: Children ages 6 to 12 are welcome to participate in this new eight-week dance program emphasizing Ballroom, Latin, Swing and line dancing moves and routines. In addition to learning the steps, the lessons include a brief history of the origin of each dance. Come out and join in the fun and learn to dance with confidence! Classes will be held in the Gauntlett Community Center and taught Dance Instructor Vivian Hartman. No experience necessary, just a love to dance.
Cheerleading: This program will provide participants with the fundamentals of being a cheerleader. Students (ages 5-9) will have fun while learning cheers, chants, skills and teamwork. The program will be held in the Gauntlett Community Center. Sneakers are required. Instructors from the Star Attraction School of Modeling, Baton Twirling and Related Arts will administer the program.
Learn to Swim: A "Learn to Swim"
program will be held at the Marple Newtown Senior High School Pool and
will meet once weekly for five
Private / Semi-Private Lessons: All lessons are one half hour in length and will meet Saturdays between 9:00am and 11:00am. Missed lessons by choice of the participant generally will not be made-up. Those registering for Semi-Private lessons must register both (2) swimmers to get the Semi-Private rate. Semi-Private swimmers must be of the same ability level.
Group Swim Lessons: Group lessons are available for beginner and advanced beginner swimmers only. Student to instructor ratio is 3:1. All lessons are one half hour in length and meet Saturday mornings at 11:00am and 11:30am. Missed lessons by choice of the participant generally will not be made-up.
Strokes & Mechanics This program is designed for children ages 6 to 14 who are able to swim freestyle but want to learn or develop the other three competitive strokes. The clinic will emphasize developing proper techniques to improve stroke mechanics. Participants should be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle with their face submerged before enrolling in this program. The clinic will be held at the Marple Newtown Senior High School pool.
